World Champion Sari Kieloaho and Russia’s best women thrower Anastasia Smirnova.
Finn Sari Kieloaho won women’s World Championship in the Youth-stadium of Petrozavodsk by throwing boot 45,40 meters. The throw was exactly as long as the best throw in the World Championship history made by Tiia Koskelo in 2008 in Italy.
The champion of men was Ville Huuskonen by the throw flying 60,62 meters. Huuskonen –the member of Ronttoset team, hard as a rock –won his first mastership last year in Estonia.
The world champs of 2012 in Russia was the best of all times by the score during 21 years old World Championship history.
Thrower’s friend during the weekend was the calm Onega Lake. Sighing of the wind was sneaking up the hill into the stadium. That up-coming breeze gave flying boots a nice buoyancy. Competitors enjoyd all the time a blazing hot sunshine after they had just arrived from the bumpy bus trip through Carelian forests that lasted near around the clock. The most what a thrower in Russia needs was a tournament endurance.
The generation of young throwers had in Petrozavodsk a great occasion. Jari Myllykangas – the man of Finnish Ostrobothnia – took the silver medal by 57,92 meters throw. Miika Paavola – the man of Ronttoset team – was third man on the podium by 56,13 meters throw. The fourth was a surprise thrower, 17 years old Markus Kallela, by 55,76 meters. He is the most promising thrower of West-Coast Scorpion’s team.
There was dramatics in the men’s competition. The top-thrower of Russia, man over 61 meters, Aleksey Stepanov, didn’t get the result with the three qualification throws and he was out of the twelve men’s final.
In the tough final of women Tiia Koskelo fought silver medal with 43,64 meters throw. Tuija Salonen took bronze by 43,19 meters. Her team mate last year’s World Champion Eeva Isokorpi lost medal by three centimeters.
Finland threw world record, Russia got second place in ranking
In competition between national teams the best was Finland. Finnish team trew the new world record by total score of 285,69 meters. It was more than ten meters better than Finnish team’s result last year. Throwers of the winning team were Ville Huuskonen, Jyrki Moilanen, Jari Nuutinen, Tiia Koskelo, Tuija Salonen and Eeva Isokorpi.
Russian team took silver medal by the score of 234,50 meters. In the ranking of national teams Russians got the second place over Estonians. The talented team of Russia were Andrej Morujev, Aleksei Stepanov, Vitaly Skorohodov, Anastasia Smirnova, Katja Semjonova and Olga Kudryashova.
Estonia was the bronze medalist. Last year Estonia won silver.
Longest throw in 21 year’s history
The longest throw during two days was 62,28 meters made by Jari Myllykangas in the team competition of bootthrowing clubs. It is the new record of World Championships.
The winner of men’s team was Finnish club Vieskan Virsu by result 260,00 meters. Throwers of the team were Jari Myllykangas, Juha Myllykangas and Arto Ainasoja.
The winner of women’s team was Finnish Rautavaaran Isku by 121,93 meters. Team’s members were Tiia Koskelo, Mona Koskelo and Sari Kieloaho.
